Eluwankuluma is in the district of Puttlum which many are not aware of,it is situated 30 Kilometres from the Puttlum town and the last town on the old manner road ( road is closed ) one can enter the largest national park in Sri Lanka, the Wilpattu park.
The park entrance is just 04 kilometers from the town.
There are quite a few hotels in the area which can be selected as required through any search engine. The Wilpattu NP being the main attraction there are many more activities available at Gange Wadiya which is a small fishing village by the Dutch bay.
Many boating excursions are available from here to Kalpitiya , to the 12 un inhabited Islands,( camping hot spots) up river along the Kala Oya , visit the Boa Bab tree and a trip along the mangroves.
One could go on a boat trip to the Horse point (Kudiramalai) and to the isolated Island of Bathalangunduwa and to Ucchimuni the tip of Kalpitiya where the lagoon and the open sea is separated by a sand dume of 10 - 20 meters wide.
This area has beautiful lakes and reservoirs - seeing is believing.
Dolphin and Whale watching ( seasonal) can be done by a boat trip to Kalpitiya (30 minutes)
A haven for cycling/trekking - village walks and to the Nelum Wewa the next birding hot spot to be.
An area that must be visited.
