After visiting the arena from which you can get a closer look at the underground area of the Colosseum, the tour will proceed on to the upper level through the regular visitors route. Very nice! We had a very nice tourguide. Het is beter om met tourguide te doen omdat je dan veel achtergrond informatie krijgt.

This was a poor experience and not recommended. We booked a 3pm tour which started at 3:25 - no explanation but lots of people running around! The group size was large (39) which wasn’t great. Some people left early either because they had to visit the Roman Forum before it closed or because of her attitude. The start was chaotic and the guide (Giovanna) was direct to the point of rude - both to the group and others. She seemed more interested in whether we’d watched Gladiator and she seemed stressed that the group was too big and she might lose people and be charged for their headsets going missing. Finally the headsets were poor quality with regular static and occasional bouts of Giovanna’s voice sounding like a Darlek! One to avoid; we wish we’d simply bought the entrance ticket at half the cost. The wait in the line would have been less than the wait for the tour (20 mins before 3pm and then the 25 min delay).
