This could have been a five star experience, but the layout of this trip is confusing.
Orvieto was wonderful, as was Assisi. However, the “lunch” that’s included is a very strange venue with a fixed meal in which we were the only patrons. If you have any alternate dietary needs, you aren’t going to get a good meal.
It added probably an extra 60-90 mins to our day and that’s time that I would’ve greatly preferred being spent in the locations I actually wanted to see. The walking tour in Assisi starts with us being walked through all the parts of town with interesting shops and sights, and by the time we are given free time to enjoy, it’s the very end, down by the parking lot, where there is not really anything to enjoy.
This would have been five stars if the assigned terrible lunch was skipped in favor of us having lunch in Assisi or at least free time at the beginning to explore. Instead, I feel like I sat on a bus for half the day to be rushed past anything I wanted to do.
The tour guides were knowedgable and the bus was comfortable and had good AC in the heat so 3 stars for that.
