60 minutes
Roman Forum, Rome, Italy Once you have toured the interior of the Colosseum, you’ll continue to the nearby Arch of Constantine and the Roman Forum. The Forum was focal point of life in the city, a place of commerce, politics and religion. Located around the ancient square are the ruins of the 1st-century Arch of Titus, the House of the Vestal Virgins, the Temple of Saturn, the Senate House, and the white marble Arch of Septimius Severus.
60 minutes
Complesso del Vittoriano, Rome, Italy Next, a walk along the Via Sacra (Sacred Way) will take you to the Capitoline Hill and Il Vittoriano, a striking neoclassical building, affectionately named “the wedding cake” by the locals – you’ll soon see why!
Trevi Fountain, Rome, Italy A further stroll and you’ll arrive at the stunning Trevi Fountain. If you throw a coin into the fountain, there is a legend which states that you will one day return to Rome.
You will then have chance for lunch (own expense). Your guide will be able to offer suggestions if required – there is a lot of choice!
20 minutes
Pantheon, Rome, Italy Once you have had lunch, the tour will continue into the Government District. Here you’ll be able to see the Parliament Building, the Palace of the Council of Ministers and the Column of Marcus Aurelius. Temple of Hadrian is located nearby – an imposing structure, built in honour of the Emperor Hadrian by his successor, Emperor Antonius Pius.
A narrow alleyway will lead you to the piazza della Rotonda, where you will find the Pantheon, the location of the tomb of the Renaissance genius, Raphael. 20 minutes
Piazza Navona, Rome, Italy You’ll then pass the ancient Baths of Nero on your way to Piazza Navona where Bernini’s incredible ‘Fountain of the Four Rivers’ is located.
20 minutes
Vatican Museums, Vatican City, Italy Just across the Tiber is the final stop on the tour -the Vatican City. Here you’ll see the Vatican Museums, which host an enormous array of spectacular artworks including frescoes by Raphael, and Michelangelo’s exquisite ceiling in the Sistine Chapel. 90 minutes
Sistine Chapel, Vatican City, Italy You will visit the Sistine Chapel, one of Italy’s most popular attractions, and still used today for the papal elections. The chapel is the location of Michelangelo's 'The Last Judgment' and other frescoes depicting Biblical stories, such as the creation of Adam
60 minutes
St. Peter's Basilica, Vatican City, Italy It is then time for a tour of St. Peter’s Basilica where you will explore the numerous side chapels with their hidden crypts. You will see Michelangelo’s Pietà and your guide will explain why this is the only work that he signed. You will gain an appreciation of the mastery that went into the creation of Bernini’s altarpiece and learn how Michelangelo triumphed over his contemporaries for the honour to paint St. Peter’s magnificent dome.
There is still more to see though below ground level. You guide will lead you below ground to the papal crypt where, over the centuries, many of the Popes have been interred. This special place is a site of pilgrimage for many Catholics

Wow! This exceeded our expectations! We only had one day to spend in Rome with our two 18 year old kids. Romina was amazing and has an encyclopedic knowledge of gods, emperors and popes! 4000 years of history in 8 hours and 17000 steps. We were exhausted but learned so much and had an amazing day which included the Colleseum!, Palatine Hill, the Roman forum, Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, the Vatican Musuem, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter's, plus everything in between. Our only complaint is that we needed a longer break at lunch to recover from the heat and humidity. Not for people who cannot walk 8 miles.

I was very fortunate to join Tommaso on my walking tour of Rome. Even more fortunate as it was just me and Tommaso, so I was given the best experience. In saying that, I have no doubt that the experience would have been the same in a group.
Tommaso has so much knowledge, which he passes on to you in a manner that you can absolutely absorb and enjoy every second. He gives you the time you need in every place and is a great photographer.

We decided to take the Walking Tour of Rome, advertised as six hours, but on the day, our wonderful private guide, Romina continued for an extra hour plus some more. It wasn't inexpensive - €160 each person (£121), but when I look at what we received for our money, I couldn't recommend it more highly as the best way to experience the history and riches of Rome. Romina was extremely knowledgeable, very pleasant and spoke excellent English. We visited the Forum, Colosseum, Trevi fountain, Pantheon, Navona square, Vatican museums, Sistine Chapel, St. Peter's Basilica and more. As a non-Catholic, I must be honest and admit I had been a little worried that a full day of religion and culture might have seen my eyes start to glaze over a wee bit, but that was definitely not the case on the day. I think that having Romina as a private guide made everything more interesting since she was able to keep our interest with all the additional information she provided at each location. I have to confess to a smile when I saw the hundreds of people queuing all the way round the Vatican walls, and the 3 of us just walked in the main door. The security is very thorough at all sites, but there were no major delays, and it's welcome in view of the ever-present threat of terrorism in major cities around the world.
Overall, I can't recommend this tour and guide highly enough. If you go to Roma - don't miss it!
Ciao and thanks Romina for a wonderful experience, and thanks Daniele for the help and organisation in setting up our visit.
