  • In Rome Vans are better than Buses: Van = up to 8 seats, Bus = from 9 to 50 seats. Note that Buses are not allow in the historical areas of Rome (official ship excursions from Cruise Companies are operated with Buses). This mean that the Bus will drop you off and you will walk for the entire duration of the tour (6/7 hours) to the other side of town at the end of the tour to be picked up. Best Viator’s Rome excursions are with private Vans. Bus in Rome has only a small number of authorized spaces dedicated to pickup/dropoff travellers so, usually, during the city tour you had to walk for about 4/6 miles. In a big group chance are that you'll have to wait much longer for people lingering at the sights and stand in line longer for the toilets or at the snack counter. You will also have much less one on one time with your driver and guide or time to ask questions, because you'll have to share them with a lot more people.

This was the best way to see Rome in a day. Our guides were so knowledgeable, friendly and organized. We skipped long, lines and didn’t have to walk very far. I would 100% recommend this personalized tour.

This was the very best tour we had while traveling through Europe!!! Francesco was our guide and Paolo our driver. They had everything timed perfectly and the entire tour was seamless!!! From the pick up at the cruise port, to our timed ticket entrances, to lunch and back to the ship!! We saw and did everything and it could not have gone better! Thank you!!

The list of sites was great. The lunch was great. The guide was very difficult to hear what he was saying as often he turned his head and spoke away from us. It would have been nice to have earbuds that he could speak into for his descriptions. Also we were offended as we asked him to take a family photo with our iPhone and he refused. He insisted to take the photo from his phone and we could "settle up" with the agency at the end to collect our pictures. With this price of the tour it is not much to ask the guide to take a few photos. We should not have to pay for this as an "extra service". We just took our own photos from that point forward and declined his phone.
