First, we’ll explore the second level of the Colosseum before going down to the first level near the arena. After some great photo ops at each, we will make our way towards the top of Palatine Hill – Other sites include: the House of Julius Caesar, the Temple of Antonius and Faustina, the Temple of Vesta, The Roman Senate House, in the history of western civilization (Basilica Costantino/Maxentius, Basilica Julia, Basilica Emilia, Basilica San Lorenzo in Miranda, This walking tour around Ancient Rome ends at the Tomb of Julius Caesar, where he was laid to rest. Formally known as the Flavian Amphitheater, our guide will take you through the long history of this impressive structure. From the very beginning of its construction in AD 72, how it only took 8 years to build (thanks to the advanced architecture and engineering of the Romans), the famous violent battles that took place in the arena where Gladiators fought for their freedom during the Vespasian dynasty, and the many stories in between.

  • Roman Forum, Rome, Italy
    This outdoor walking tour continues to the Ancient Roman Forum. During the height of the Roman empire, this was the center of civilization and daily life - where people met for business, religion, politics, shopping and socialization. This was also where one of the most famous speeches in history was made by Marc Antony. Walk amongst what remains of the Forum of Guilio and Augustus, the Temple of Vesta, Saturn and Castro, the Basilica of Guilia and Amelia, the Via Sacra, and the tomb where Julius Caesar’s body now rests. Our guide will bring these ruins back to life as they describe the incredible history of this ancient civilization.

    Last, but not least on this sightseeing tour is Palatine Hill. Founded in 753 BC, this was where the first houses in Rome sprouted, after which the first palace was constructed and later on, where the Popes chose to rebuild their homes.

Our travel agent highly recommended Eden Walks from past experiences with them and they did not disappoint at all! Absolutely great service making the arrangements with Alma. We did both the Colosseum and Roman Forum tour with James as well as a personal walking tour around many of Rome's great tourist attractions such as the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon among others. Our tour guide James was extremely friendly and without doubt a GREAT historian. He is able to communicate the significance of all of these magnificent structures but he does it with such a passion. His historical knowledge is absolutely incredible and we certainly learned sooooo much!

Did two tours with Eden Walks and I can’t say enough about our guides, Alfredo and James. They were incredibly knowledgeable and kind. We had a GREAT tour with James! Soooo knowledgeable, helped put events in context, and flexible with us when the heatwave required our party to split up and get one child back into the air conditioning. No hesitation would book again and have already recommended Eden Walks to a friend headed to Rome next week!
