Departure Point
Via Labicana, 46, 00184 Roma RM, Italië
Piazza Venezia, Rome, Italy Piazza Venezia is a famous square in Rome. It is located at the foot of the Capitol, where five of the most important streets of the capital intersect: via dei Fori Imperiali, via del Corso, via C. Battisti-via Nazionale, via del Plebiscito-corso Vittorio and via of the Theater of Marcellus. 20 minutes
Piazza del Popolo, Rome, Italy The origin of the name of the square is uncertain: there is an etymology that derives "populated" from the Latin populus (poplar), on the basis of the tradition that wants there to be, in the area, a grove of poplars pertaining to the tomb of Nero, who was there near. It is historical news, however, that Pope Paschal II had a chapel built near the walls, at the expense of the Roman people (the one on which the present church of Santa Maria del Popolo would then be built): of the people was the Madonna, of the People became the square. 20 minutes
Monte Pincio, Rome, Italy l Pincio (or Colle Pinciano, from the Latin mons Pincius) is a hill of Rome, 61 m high s.l.m., which is located north of the Quirinale and overlooks the Campo Marzio, with several villas and gardens occupying the hill.
At the top of the hill, from piazzale Napoleone I, you can enjoy a wide view of Piazza del Popolo and the Prati district, which rises over those that were the Prati di Castello until the end of the 1800s; the view also extends north over the Dome of San Pietro to Monte Mario, to the north-west the Gianicolo, to the south-west at the bottom of the horizon the skyscrapers of the Eur, making it one of the most panoramic places in the Capital. 20 minutes
St. Peter's Square, Vatican City, Italy Piazza San Pietro is the square in front of the Basilica of San Pietro.
Located on the edge of the historic center of Rome, at 19 m s.l.m., [1] the square is part of the Vatican City and is bounded by the border with the Italian State; through the Borgo district lying to the east, the main entrances are from via di Porta Angelica or via della Conciliazione. In the showy inclination of the "runners" Bernini renounces the sixteenth-century solution of leaving a straight order, inserting the triangular 'wedges' under the base and between capital and entablature, and instead uses an "oblique architecture". This contravenes what Vitruvio claimed about architecture as a mirror of reality. 30 minutes
Colle del Gianicolo, Rome, Italy The Janiculum is a Roman hill, overlooking the right bank of the Tiber, whose maximum height is 88 meters, not falling within the group of seven traditional hills. The eastern slope slopes down towards the river and at the base is the historic district of Trastevere, while the western one, less steep, is the oldest part of the modern Monteverde district; to the south-west of the hill is situated Villa Doria Pamphili, while on its eastern slopes is the Botanical Garden of Rome and the Regina Coeli prison. Together with Monte Mario and the Pincio it is one of the most panoramic places in the city with a view to the east of the neighboring districts and the historic center with the major architectural monuments of the city up to the Alban Hills, the Tiburtini Mountains, Prenestini and the major peaks of the Apennines central western (Terminillo, Velino, Monti Simbruini). 20 minutes
