The historic Forum Holitorium, an ancient market surrounded by Republican-era temples, lies concealed beneath the basilica, adding layers to the city's rich history.

Our tour guide Vanessa led us to three different but interesting locations. In the first we saw lots and lots of bones and skeletons in six connected chambers. For the second location outside of Rome a bus brought us there and then we went underground into a dark maze of old graves. Welcome to the necropolis! Finally the bus carried us back to town, near the Colloseum and we went into a church which was built on a church which was built on a Roman villa which was transformed into a church. Hence the lasagna, because you have different layers stacked on eachother. Overall a very enjoyable tour with good knowledge transfer.

You are dropped off at a location different than where you were picked up and travel is very inconvenient and difficult

We had 2 guides, Paula and Laura, both were well informed and extremely easy to follow. They looked after us at all 3 stages of the tour and nothing was too much trouble. At all times they had excellent knowledge of the topic and also Rome as a whole. I would recommend using this company. (She also recommended Regolie as an excellent place to grab a local sweet treat!)
