Don't think that you will begin at 7:30 a.m. with the tour. You meet your guide to walk 15 mins or so, then wait outside in a long tour guide line with everyone else for 30 minutes, then once through security you are led outside to a terrace for your guide to show main attractions you will see, and go into great detail on each one with history which is nice but is about 40 minuted. By the time you do get to go inside, the rest of the hoards are inside as well.

We were told that the subway system would be on strike on Friday Oct 3. We were told that even taxis and buses would be unavailable and to take alternate transport. We then proceeded to walk for three hours to the vatican and arrived an hour after the tour began. We never got in. My wife has lupus and suffered terribly during the walk, but really wanted to go on this tour. It turns out the subway was indeed running after all and were never informed. We took the subway home in 30 minutes after losing $236. Trip advisor made a big deal about this by sending us an email before the tour, it would have been better if they never informed us with this false information.
