Quite a drive from Aukland, but absolutely worth the time and the money! The scenery on the drive is beautiful: endless green fields, luah forests and picturesque towns. Floating on a boat at Waitomo glow worm caves, I felt like I could reach out an touch the stars. The ceiling and walls of the caves twinkle with glow worms! The Rotorua geothermal pools and geysers are otherworldly. I "windbathed" in the mineral rich steam blowing in puffs of cloud from the geysers. Our guide, Aiman was excellent; knowledgeable and friendly and he stopped so we could get fresh blueberries and ice cream on the way home. The tour company was great to deal with.
