Stephen made an absolutely perfect day out of the chaos following the sad death of Queen Elizabeth II. I landed at London's Heathrow Airport on Friday, September 9 and was met by Stephen at the Hyatt Regency - The Churchill hotel. Stephen was great as my arrival at the airport was delayed unexpectedly at the airport but he still met me in the lobby and was ready to go, despite my unfortunate tardiness.
If the Queen's passing altered any of Stephen's plans then I was none the wiser as I had an absolutely perfect day in Greenwich! We started witha a taxi ride to the area around Big Ben and walked to the Thames for a river cruise to Greenwich. This was my second time in London (and third time with Ye Olde England Tours) but Stephen still made the experience in London seem new & fresh. We visited the Cutty Sark and Painted Hall at the Old Royal Naval College but a particular highlight was signing a condolence book for the Queen at the Royal Chapel. Another personal highlight was seeing the Prime Meridian line at the Royal Observatory.
After a full day of siteseeing we ventured back to my hotel via a taxi from Greenwich. Stephen was apologetic about how the historical events may have led to some confusion, perhaps closures, and such - all totally unavoidable by the Royal tragedy, but in my eyes everything went off perfectly as I had hoped and could envision.
The day was an absolutely lifelong memorable experience made during a historic period of English history and with an absolutely wonderful tour guide.
