    Windsor Castle is the oldest and largest inhabited castle in the world. It has been the family home of British kings and queens for almost 1,000 years and is today one of the official residences of His Majesty The King. Occupying over 10.5 hectares, the Castle offers a varied day out for visitors, including a visit to the magnificent State Apartments and St George's Chapel. The Castle's State Apartments are furnished with some of the finest works from the Royal Collection, reflecting the changing tastes of the Castle's royal occupants, particularly those of Charles II and George IV. Many of the works of art are still in the historic settings for which they were first collected or commissioned by the kings and queens who have lived at Windsor. Visitors can take a self-guided tour of the Castle with a free multimedia tour. From October to March, visitors can also walk through the sumptuous Semi-State Apartments, which served as the private rooms of George IV in the 19th century.

Windsor Castle was beautiful and full of history. The town was also lovely. Very clean with lots of shops and restaurants and everyone was very pleasant and helpful. I wasn't impressed with the "tour". The bus wasn't very comfortable. There were 2 guides on our tour bus, however no commentary was provided for our drive to Windsor. A few tidbits of information or history would have enhanced our trip immensely. At the castle we were on our own to explore as we wished. If going again we would take the train which has a stop right at the gates to Windsor castle.

The bus ride due to heavy traffic was 1:30 each way. The tour bus was comfortable but since there is no guide on the bus it was long boring rides. The audio guides at the castle were helpful but make sure to follow the numbers at the exhibits. The castle was interesting and we got through all of it and still had 45 minutes to walk around the town before pick up time. Knowing what I know now I would recommend if traveling from London look into taking the train.

Bad tour . Highly recommend not to buy this kind of tour. Very disappointed and wasted money. No tour guider or audio player. We just met at meeting point and dropped off at bus station at Royal Windsor castle without instructions. Don’t ever buy this kind if tour if you plan to go here.
