best tour guide of our trip. i would 100% recommend omar, and will definitely attempt to book with him again when i come back to peru.
in this review i will address 3 aspects of his excellence: knowledge, practice, service.
omar has a wealth of knowledge, and is able to effortlessly inform and discuss all aspects of such in english. his vocabulary is advanced, and more worthy of recognition, his ability to discuss geopolitical concepts of any period. he is an encyclopedia when it comes to the history of peru and it’s people, and given his experience with all of trails, he is a master of the land.
as mentioned above, omar is a master of his trade. he has a strong history of leading others on trails, of traveling the land on his own, and of studying in academia for the information he shares. he is so comfortable when he shares his land with you. being so well versed with his home, omar not only shares experiences with you but also his people. we visited many sites, but also stopped as smaller parts of different towns - for example to see authentic aspects of clothing production as well as traditions that continue to live on. omar took the time to interact and allow us to understand the people we passed on the streets of each town and location we visited.
every place we visited, you could see omar’s respect and love for the community by the way he interacted with others. similarly, omar treated us with excellent service. i felt extremely sick - possibly from altitude, or from food borne illness, or both(!) - and omar was able to adjust the sacred valley tour to accommodate for how i was feeling as the day progressed. omar is very thoughtful and considerate.
touring with omar feels like you’re touring with a true storyteller, the ones you hear about historically who serve as living libraries for all of the ancestral history. my best regards and appreciation - thank you, omar!
