2-Day Mekong Delta Luxury Group Tour from Ho Chi Minh City

Very good tour overall. Our guide (Mr. Bea or Beo - apologies for nor remembering the right spelling) was very dedicated, knowledgeable, enthusiastic and always worked towards our needs. He spoke english very well. The 2nd day (floating market) was definitely most enjoyable for us. We got a good glimpse of what life is in this area. Also got the opportunity to go to residential houses and meet the people and have a good appreciation of their day to day activities. All in all a very good experience (I'd give it a 4.5). Two long, long days of driving, including numerous stops along the way, to experience the floating market (which is basically a bust). We were charged an exorbitant amount (over $300) for two people for the two day - one night “luxury” tour by TA and guess what…it wasn’t worth it. TEN hours after we left HCMC, we arrived in Can Tho, this, we were totally unaware of. The itinerary was vague and ambiguous at best. There was no timeline given. After our bathroom break along the way we stopped again and spent a few minutes at a pagoda after that we stopped again to board a small boat on the Mekong River to get to another (smaller) boat which took us to a small village on an island to have some lunch. We visited a coconut candy making place along the way. After an hour there we took another boat back to the first boat which took us to some place that had something to do with bees making honey (this is the place where I informed our guide that, after nearly falling several times, (we’re senior citizens and I have a bad knee) that I wouldn’t be getting on and off anymore boats. That being said, I was left sitting at the bee place alone for almost an hour while the rest of the group boarded an even smaller boat to go listen to some traditional music. Then, upon their eventual return, we boarded the first boat (again) which eventually took us back to the bus to continue our (two more hours on the bus) journey. The next morning, after breakfast, we headed to yet another boat which took us to the Floating Market. The river was full of very loud boats (belching black exhaust) filled with tourists. Be forewarned, the river is just plain nasty. Plastic, garbage and dead fish were floating everywhere. Sad. Then we stopped to see some noodles be made (I didn’t get off our boat….too dangerous for this fellow) before heading back to our bus for, apparently a visit to a fish farm. I again informed our guide that I wasn’t doing any more boats. He then informed that in fact yes, there was one more boat (which actually turned out to be four more boats - seemed the first boat had mechanical problems due to too much plastic wrapped around the propeller). Anyway, again, I was left sitting on the bus for over an hour waiting for our group to return. A complete waste of time and money. Do something else. Anything else. Read the TA reviews, and not just the sugarcoated reviews. We had no idea how long we were going to be traveling each day, no idea where we were going to be staying or the number of times we were “expected” to get on and off numerous small boats (which amounted to over twenty). It is NOT, as claimed, handicap accessible. This trip was a bust.

Super compagnie, les tours sont très bien organisés. Les guides sont exceptionnellement dynamiques et motivés. Je les recommande vivement.
