The Mekong Delta is the southernmost region of Vietnam. It is often referred to as the rice bowl of Vietnam as it produces three harvests per year. The fertile Mekong Delta is also famous for its tropical fruits and flowers. The delta area marks the end of a 4,500km journey made by the Mekong River after having traveled through six countries. Mỹ Tho is one of the biggest cities in the Mekong Delta, dotted with serene Buddhist pagodas and surrounded by dense rivers. Many great destinations for visitors have been established by the local government and private companies, serving thousands of tourists every day. I went on this tour with family, and it was the perfect way to explore the Mekong Delta in just one day. We started at Vinh Tràng Temple, which was absolutely beautiful with its huge Buddha statues and peaceful atmosphere. From there, we visited several spots around Bến Tre and the surrounding villages, where we learned about local crafts and traditions—it really gave us a taste of authentic Vietnamese culture. One of the highlights was trying unique drinks: a honey green tea that was super refreshing, and even a shot of honey mixed with snake inside the jar (such a once-in-a-lifetime experience!). We also took a relaxing boat ride through the Delta, saw charming cottages, and walked through lush gardens. Our guide James made the day extra special—he was so kind, fun, and full of knowledge. He answered all our questions and kept the group engaged the whole time. The trip was packed with things to see and do, but it never felt rushed. It was the right mix of adventure, culture, and relaxation. Definitely 100% recommend this tour if you want to experience the beauty of the Mekong Delta in a day.

This was an enjoyable trip and thanks to Nam, our guide, you gave us lots of great information about the culture and history of the area and Vietnam. Both he and the driver were accommodating and willing to be flexible and even scheduled in a stop so I could pick up a beautiful piece of artwork per my request. We received some wonderful information on how the piece was made and we all enjoyed this education on traditional creative processes too. It was a full day visiting various islands with a number of boat rides. Hopping on and off was a bit nerve wracking for me but the rest of the family were fine with it. I could imagine that those with limited mobility might find this challenging. For the leisurely small boat ride, we were given 1 boat which had seating for 4 but they also have one rower at the front and one at back so in total 6 people were on this boat. I would suggest to only assign 2 passengers per boat as 4 passengers felt heavy for the boat and we feared tipping it over :). The pagoda on the mainland was gorgeous but pity we couldn’t go inside. We came back tired and happy that we had gone on the trip. Be prepared for the singing ladies on Unicorn Island - their singing makes you want to cry. Nam’s sense of humor carried the day along nicely. Thanks again.
