With this tour we will treat you to a fantastic night out in HCMC, see a traditional Vietnamese Water Puppet performance, and delight in live folk music and native dancing and relish a sumptuous meal on cruise along the Saigon River. Our English-speaking tour guide will pick you up right at your hotel at 5:30 PM, then head to the Golden Dragon Water Puppet Theatre at 6:30 PM for an entertaining puppet show, accompanied by live, traditional music. Next, we move to the cruise port, and begin your journey along the Saigon River at 7:45 PM. On the cruise, you can not only admire the views of Saigon by night from your cruise but also dine on tasty food.

    At 5:45, we will pick-up you right at you hotel and then we enjoy the show at 6:30 PM in an AC theatre, no intermission. Puppetry is now firmly a proud Vietnamese tradition. Puppets dance on a “stage”, essentially a tank of water. The puppets are manipulated by puppeteers standing waist deep in the water hidden behind a screen. The show depicts every day pastoral scenes—riding a water buffalo, catching frogs, fishing—as well as folktales and humorous anecdotes, all set to live instruments and singing. The show finishes at 7:15 PM. Then, we move to the pier for dinner. The cruise will depart at 7:45, serving you Buffet with extremely cozy atmosphere while you can also enjoy many wonderful performance of dancing, singing & traditional instrument playing. Your cruise will move slowly on Saigon River to help you immerse in the Night life of HCMC, which is a very different point that you cannot find with any land transportation. Back to the pier. Ends of service.

I will break this review down into parts to make it easier: TOUR GUIDE - Asher was a really friendly guy. He made sure I was okay throughout the entire night. I felt completely safe with him. WATER PUPPET SHOW - this was awesome! Despite the fact that it is entirely in the Vietnamese language, the whole performance was entertaining and you can get the gist with the visuals. Plus there is a leaflet before you enter which has the order of show in the English translation. A huge shout out to the puppeteers and the narrators. DINNER - from here is the reason why this review is only average. First thing to note is that it is a buffet, which is fine. The issue is that the food was left out on dinner plates, not in chafing dishes which meant the food was cold after some time. Also, personally, I do not think keeping food out in the open is a good idea for reasons. Plus some dishes didn't have labels so I had to ask a few times what something was. Not great if you have dietary requirements/food allergies. CRUISE - there was onboard entertainment in the form of dancers and singers which was nice, but being out on the actual open deck was kind of...boring. You are really just looking at buildings. You do see the saigon skydeck, but because of how basic it looked at night, I didn't notice what it was at first. Plus, the boat was going super slow, apparently because of how big it is. Overall, I would give this a 3.5 out of 5 because the cruise ship portion of the tour was a bit of a letdown. Better to pay separately to see the puppet show on its own, in my opinion.
