    The oldest Abbey north of the Alps (714AD) was featured several times in the Sound of Music. Only the exterior of the abbey was used in the movie. Innside shots where done in a studio.
  • Leopoldskroner Weiher, 5020 Salzburg, Austria
    Here we stop for a view over the Lake to the Palace Leopoldskron. This beautiful rococo building was used as the back of the family house in the Sound of Music. The boat scene was filmed here and it used to be the home of the original Gazebo.

Michael, our guide from Saltzburg Tours, was outstanding and well worth the price of our 8 hrs with him, my sister Sally, and me. He met us inside our hotel in a very traditional Austrian outfit. His knowledge of The Sound of Music movie, its locations, and the real Von Trap family was very informative. It was made even more enjoyable by his timely playing of the music from the movie. Continuing with his vast knowledge of all the areas we traveled through, we ventured to Hallstatt, which has stunning Alpine scenery and a rich history. Hallstatt offers unique attractions like the ancient salt mines, picturesque lake views, and the historic village. His heartfelt thoughtfulness and compassion towards us for being unable to walk fast and having to rest a little went above and beyond. We didn't want the tour to end or our time with Michael. Bravo, and Thank you, Michael.

Our tour guide, Carlos, was super. While visiting Halstatt he personally took us to several areas that we would never had found. Since our weather was less than optimal, Carlos rearranged the timeline to minimize the impact to our visit and succeeded as most areas we visited was rain free. Would definitely book this private tour again
