The tour guide was terrific! That was not the problem. The choice for the breakfast item was dull and not very flavorful. We didn't realize we had to share the brisket fries and it's hard to take food not knowing if you are cutting someone else short. The tacos were good.

Our guide, Gina, shared information about history of the area as well as the restaurant history. We went to different areas downtown and tasted a variety of foods. She also had many suggestions for us to visit during our visit. Highly recommend We like doing a good tour our first day in a new city because you get so much information about the city and can decide where to go next.

We had a great experience with the Historic Downtown San Antonio Food and Culture tour! Starting the tour out at 11 a.m. in front of The Alamo, it was very easy to find our tour guide (even with a big event going on that day), and then from there, it was dish after delicious dish. We started with chocolate and vanilla conchas at La Panderia, before moving down to the Riverwalk for a taste of Brisket Fries at the Esquire. After that, we headed back to The Alamo, where we got the chance to pick from multiple taco options at Mengerita Tacos, before finishing up with Mango Ice Cream at The Colonial Room. Everything we had was delicious, and you're given the option--at least at the Esquire and Mengerita Tacos--to order more food and/or drinks. The only place where we noticed a long wait time was at The Colonial Room. For whatever reason, it took about 20 minutes to get our ice cream, but The Colonial Room is right next to Mengerita Tacos, so we were able to stay seated and enjoy the weather while we waited, so it wasn't bad at all. All the other stops took less than 5 minutes to receive our food. Our guide, Mary, was super friendly and approachable, and had a lot of great facts about the city. The weather was also quite hot that day and she was great at keeping us comfortable by keeping us walking and in the shade. With all the food we got to try, places we got to see, and facts we learned, the tour was worth the price. Overall, it was a great tour, and I would recommend it to anyone. As a quick note, the tour is supposed to take approximately 2.5 hours--according to the site--but our tour actually took closer to 3.5 hours. This was not a negative at all (we didn't even notice it was going long), but I wanted to bring that up, just so people are aware the tour can run long and it's probably a good idea not to make time-sensitive plans close to the tour's approximate end time.
