What to Expect The "Gaslamp Quarter Walking Tour" is a 90 minute walk through one of the oldest neighborhoods in San Diego, located in the heart of today's modern downtown. The tour begins with a brief discussion of California and San Diego's history. We'll talk about the area's beginnings as a rival to "Old Town" due to its prime location near the bay. You'll learn how early pioneers like William Heath Davis and Alonzo Horton helped shape the future of America's finest city. The Gaslamp Quarter features restored Victorian era architecture from a time when it was known as 'The Stingaree." As we walk up and down 4th and 5th avenues I will explain the history of these buildings and share lots of interesting stories along the way! This tour is a great way for local San Diegans, and visitors to learn about the history of San Diego.

    The tour will finish near the Gaslamp Museum. You can visit this museum on your own after the tour if you wish.
