We spent an excellent day with Beth and her comrades riding horses near San Miguel. We were picked up and transported to the ranch and met our 2 guides for the day. Beth gave us excellent instructions and we felt prepared and comfortable riding. We each had a lovely horse that was well trained and obedient.
The trail ride was about 2.5 hours and we rode 6 miles! The path was rocky at times, winding up and down the hills and the horses commanded it like champs! We trotted several times and ended the ride through the river.
After the ride we went back to the cowboy's house to enjoy a lovely homemade lunch by the local women. It included homemade tortillas and cheese, meatballs, rice and cooked vegetables. We also drank delicious fresh squeezed watermelon and pineapple juices.
We left there and drove to La Gruta to enjoy a few hours in the thermal water. There were 3 pools with various temperatures. There was a cave that led to a very warm pool that felt like a sauna. The grounds and pools were well kept and wonderful. It was so relaxing to enjoy the pools to mend our stiff joints after our ride. There were drinks and food available for purchase. It was a short 15 minute drive back to San Miguel's center from La Gruta.
We loved our time with Beth and really enjoyed spending time with her and learning more about her transition to life abroad in San Miguel.
Would highly recommend tour! We especially appreciated supporting the local cowboys and thought it was so awesome how Beth has built an incredible relationship with them. They have been working with Beth for 16 years and you could tell there was a mutual respect and appreciation between them.
