I was lucky enough to join one of the first classes and wasn't sure what to expect. We met our local guide and made our way into a restaurant kitchen -- it was small but felt super authentic, which is what I was hoping for. The local chef was so kind and patient, showing us how to make a variety of Basque specialties while our local guide explained the history and technique behind each dish. We were able to help with a variety of the dishes -- learning to flip the perfect tortilla, grilling a Basque steak, and the difficult technique of making the local pil pil sauce. The foods weren't your basic tourist cooking class foods - it felt like a gourmet meal. We had plenty of local drinks throughout (local cider, white wine, red wines, and dessert cider). Overall I loved our experience and will be making these dishes back at home for sure! Thank you Devour for making us feel Basque for the evening!
