Meet San Sebastian's most interesting spots by walking across its historic area! Join our local guides and do not miss any of the secrets that this emblematic city hides, learning every detail of its buildings and its people. Departing from the border of Old and New Towns (where the 19th century city walls were built!) we will take you through the serpentine Old Town streets, visiting the two main churches and the pintxo streets. Later on we will show you the expansion of the city during the early 20th century with the influence of the Spanish Queen Maria Cristina in the construction of many of San Sebastian's most characteristic buildings such as Hotel de Londres and Maria Cristina (named after her), the catherdal of Buen Pastor (Good Shepherd), the Tabakalera museum, Victoria Eugenia auditorium and many more. This activity includes a pintxo round in a traditional bar in La Parte Vieja, the Old Town!

Strolling along the famous La Concha Beach, you'll hear how the city became a luxurious spa retreat for Spanish royalty. Next, we'll visit the impressive Cathedral of Buen Pastor, home to one of Europe’s largest organs. Our journey continues as we cross the María Cristina Bridge, an architectural gem inspired by the bridges of Paris, offering breathtaking views of the Urumea River. We'll then admire the exterior of the María Cristina Hotel, a glamorous symbol of the San Sebastián Film Festival, still bearing scars from the Spanish Civil War.     In this second part of the tour, we’ll delve into the narrow streets of the Old Town, where one of the city's most intense battles took place. We will visit the Market of La Bretxa, a historic marketplace that has been a vital part of local life for centuries. As we explore, you'll discover century-old shops, some over 190 years old! We’ll step inside the Church of San Vicente, a Gothic gem that holds a relic older than the city itself, and visit the famous Plaza de la Constitución, which conceals fascinating hidden secrets. Our journey ends at the iconic Church of Santa María del Coro, where we’ll admire its stunning Baroque façade from the outside.

Requested a tour in English. Guide spoke with a very heavy accent and her English wasn’t very good. All of us on the tour had no idea what she was saying.

Fun walk to understand the history of Donestia / San Sebastián including why it has two names.. Guide was a young Basque gentleman who spent part of his childhood in Scotland so had great English. His name was Jule, he did a great job. Pretty fast walking pace. We were rewarded with a glass of local wine and a choice of Pinxtos at one of the best bars in the Old Town. Ten people total on the tour. Well worth the price and two hours spent!
