We toured Santa Lucia hill, learned about leaders in the independence movement and the Mapuche people, toured the federal government district, Plaza de Armes, Londres & Paris, and the Central Mercado. We learned that the basement of the Iglesia de San Francisco shows evidence of Incan earthquake-resistant building practices 500 years ago. We gained firsthand perspective on the 1973 coup d’etat and subsequent dictatorship from one who lived it. And more … we walked for more than 4 hours, but it hardly seemed that long. Again, for the history buffs this tour with Hernan will be a delight.
