My girlfriend and I were the 2nd people to take this tour in 2 years due to covid. We were so incredibly thrilled with the service we received. Our tour guide, Sue, picked us up at our hotel around 9am after agreeing to move our date of the tour a day later due to personal complications. We then walked through the rice and corn fields for around 3 hours. We were given the option for an easy and a difficult route and chose the difficult one, and needless to say it was. But for the view and everything we learned it was 100% worth it. We were accompanied by two other women and their children as well, and they were so sweet and helpful while we hiked. Sue was so knowledgeable about the plants in the area and taught us much about Hmong culture. We learned how indigo dye is made and learned about marriage and school within the communities as well. We were brought to a restaurant in a small village for lunch and had a delicious meal. After lunch we both were ready to head back, as both of our shoes weren’t doing us well and Sue arranged for a motor bike to take us directly back to our hotel. About an hour and a half later we heard a knock on our door and it was Sue, not coming back to get the money we had then remembered we owed her, but to check on us to make sure we were okay after the hike. The hospitality, compassion, and kindness Sue and the rest of the women displayed were truly unlike any service we’ve received before which brings me to my point of how I would 110% recommend this tour for anyone looking for an authentic experience of Sapa!

We enjoyed our tour beginning with a downhill walk and then making our way through the villages. Our lunch was served at a local house and was quite tasty. Our friendly tour guide was very informative and provided lots of info on our surroundings. The steep climb back uphill to meet the bus was quite challenging due to the incline and the deep mud. All in all it was an enjoyable day, however a good degree of fitness is required.
