We went to quite a few places on this trip and to be honest I didn't really have much of an expectation because personally I don't think the pictures for this trip do it justice. The mountains, the lakes, volcanos and scenery were just amazing. We were just going from one place to another and it never really felt like you had time to take it all in. I'm definitely considering going back to Sapporo and really exploring the area more.

Even though the tour is advertised as multilingual, the guide - treating us like a class of school kids) didn't speak English. There was an audioguide available in English, but this was not of particular interest to us. No effort was made to make sure we understood what the day would look like and what was expected of us. For me, the partnership with some businesses was disappointing: we had 85 minutes for lunch at some hotel at Lake Toya, which was way too much. If you didn't opt to go to the onsen at the hotel (which you had to pay extra for), there was just a boring boulevard past some hotels (it did offer a view on lake Toya). We would have much rather spent this time on mount Usu, where we felt we had way too little time to explore. There was a boat tour, which was presented like it was almost mandatory, which in fact it wasn't. Mount Usu was very beautiful though, so maybe find some tour which goes just there.
