Our hike ends at the excellent Bosnian restaurant Bašča kod Ene. Here you can enjoy an excellent Bosnian lunch with your guide (optional) and, if you wish, walk back to the starting point of the hike afterwards.
Ferhadija Pedestrian Street, Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina You will meet your guide at the cathedral in the centre of Sarajevo. There you will learn the first exciting facts about this city - the "Jerusalem of the Balkans". After all, you are in the centre of the Austro-Hungarian part of the city. But this picture will soon change when you set off for the mahalas. These old Ottoman neighbourhoods - the smallest possible administrative unit at the time - still characterise the cityscape of Sarajevo today and have exciting stories to tell! 10 minutes
Mejtaš, 71000 Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina The first mahala you visit is the old Jewish neighbourhood of Mejtaš. Here your guide will tell you a lot about the influence of Jewish culture and community on the city of Sarajevo.
10 minutes
Vrbanjuša, 71000 Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina Many remnants of Ottoman culture and history are still hidden in the mahalas, such as this old dervish monastery. Your guide will tell you even more exciting stories of multiculturalism, diversity and cohesion in this city, where different religions and ethnic groups have always lived together! 10 minutes
Grdonj, 71000 Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina On the way up, it becomes more rural, with people planting their herbs and vegetables in their own vegetable gardens in illegal settlements. You will also get to know this part of the city before taking a breather at a marvellous viewpoint where you can learn about the siege of the 20th century. 45 minutes
VCHM+PMJ, Sarajevo 71000, Bosnia and Herzegovina The history of this place is sad - you visit the trenches of the Serbs - but the view of Sarajevo is one of the most beautiful. Here you can admire how the city has regained its joie de vivre after its cruel past. 15 minutes
Prvi bataljon Sedrenika 22, Sarajevo 71000, Bosnia and Herzegovina The hike ends at Mahala Sedrenik - with a typical Bosnian lunch and rakija tasting (if you wish - lunch is optional).

Really beautiful, interesting and different tour of Sarajevo! You see parts of the town that you won’t come to with other walking tours in the city and I was amazed to realise how close the city is to the mountains and tranquil nature! The guide was very open, answered all our questions and adapted the information to what we were interested in. A must!
