This is the lair of the 'Mackenzie Poltergeist', regarded as the best documented supernatural case of all time. An encounter with the poltergeist is said to be the highlight of the Haunted Graveyard Tour, with hundreds of people claiming to have been attacked by the entity.     All tours last approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes and leave from the "Tree of the Dead" located outside St Giles Cathedral on Edinburgh's Royal Mile. Each guide is a local expert on Edinburgh's fascinating and horrifying history, with their own unique style and delivery so no two tours are ever the same.  Combining history, humour and horror, this guided walking tour meanders through the labyrinth of Edinburgh's closes and alleyways before entering Greyfriars Kirkyard, the world's most haunted site! We finish the tour ends inside the Covenantor's Prison, a locked section of a 16th Century walled cemetery. Thought to be the world's first concentration camp, this is the lair of the 'Mackenzie Poltergeist', the best documented supernatural case of all time. Since City of the Dead has the only access to the Prison, we have been able to record all of the 'attacks' on visitors there. So far there have been over 900 - including 180 people who have been knocked unconscious. Can cause physical and mental distress. You join us at your own risk.

Excellent tour given by Gerry! He was thorough and gave a lot of historical significance to the graveyard and he added a bit of humor as well. Mausoleum was creepy and made you stop and think. Overall entertaining and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend. A fun time for all!

So hello my name is Cornelius the tour started off very good but was on toilet all night frightened of mckenzie I thought I saw him in the wardrobe but the following morning I found a scratch mark on my hand I’m still pooing

We had the most amazing Tour with Mog. It was really fun but also very informative. He showed as a lot of interesting stuff and told as many fascinating storys. I would absolutely recommend it, because you're also seeing a locked part of the kirk yard to wich only this tour has access. He even spend extra 5 minutes with us telling us some more facts about the kirk yard. You should absolutely do it when you are able to make it!
