The beautiful mountain drive is enough to merit this trip, but then the gondola at Crystal Mountain takes you to the top ridge with a remarkable view of all 5 of Washington's volcanoes. Mount Rainier being a rocks throw away, it's incredible from this viewpoint. Restaurant at the Summit if you wish to buy lunch or beverages.

Lyle took us on our tour and we could not have asked for a better guide. She loves Seattle and is so knowledgeable about the city and its surroundings. The scenery on the way to the mountain was beautiful and the gondola ride was a great way to enjoy more views. It's too bad it was cloudy, but despite that, it was majestic up there. Lunch was at the cafe down the mountain. I highly recommend the Hungarian goulash.

Cheryl picked us up promptly at our hotel in downtown Seattle. The SUV was clean and we were provided with snacks and water bottles for the trip to Crystal Mountain. Cheryl was a wonderful guide who provided us with a lot of interesting history and information about the area on the way to and from the mountain. It was a refreshing change of pace from the larger group tours we have taken in the past because we were able to have a real conversation with the tour guide. It felt like we were spending the day with an old friend or family member who has lived in the area for a long time. The gondola ride to the top of Crystal Mountain was relaxing, and we had great views of the surrounding mountains with our lunch. We were not rushed at all and had ample time to enjoy the wonderful views of Mt. Rainier, which was clearly visible on the day we visited. For those wanting a change of pace from the "standard" tour format, I would highly recommend this tour!
