Follow the Serchio River and cycle along scenic country roads on the way to the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa on this family-friendly self-guided tour. This easy/intermediate journey starts in Lucca and follows secondary country roads all around the Monti Pisani. Cycle down 33 kilometers of dirt and asphalt roads with a trekking bike or an e-bike. Bikes are fitted with a phone holder, making it easy to follow the GPS directions on the application. The journey to Pisa takes between 2 to 4 hours. After approximately 20 kilometers, stop at San Giuliano Terme for a refreshing drink in the charming central square in front of the Spa. The itinerary ends in Piazza dei Miracoli, in front of the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Return to Lucca on a direct route by bike or on a 25-minute train ride. The bikes fit easily into the train's storage wagons and train tickets can be purchased in advance from the local partner. Difficulty: Easy/Intermediate 33 km Lucca to Pisa; 26 km way back (or train)

Great itinerary...recommended bike tour app worked well. We were in Pisa after 2 1/2 hours of off the beaten path trails. Ebikes made a huge difference. Only cautionary note is the gps app eats smart phone battery charge. Luckily we had a battery booster so the entire trip out to Pisa and back to Lucca was fine. We are active mid 70's and the trip was well within our abilities.

Staff was very nice and friendly, explained everything to my group carefully and calmly. They also let us stay with the bikes for an additional 1:30hr. The only problem we had to deal with was the bike’s chain. It fell off 4 times during the ride. Besides that, great experience.

We didn’t go all the way to Pisa because it was too hot, so instead we just rode the bikes around the wall of Lucca. It was perfect! The E-bike was a great help!
