Not exactly as I expected. I've used Viator 35 times and this tour was my poorest experience. I had difficulty finding the guide due to his hidden location at the Colosseum. Once located he handed me our tickets and pointed the 100 meters or so and said there's your entrance. I thought I had purchased skip the line tickets apparently not.
I could have bought the tickets myself, saved money and equally important the time wasted looking for the guide.

This was an incredibly frustrating tour that never happened. We purchased a timed entry ticket and arrived at our designated meeting point and met with the person that had our tickets. we stood in line and when we were asked for our identification we were denied entry because my ticket said John Mayato and my passport said Juan Mayato. I understand that rules are rules but we were not informed about this before hand i think it is something that should be addressed because there are many people that use a variation of their names when booking things with the exception of maybe air travel.

Elaria gave us a wonderful time. She was truly friendly and highlighted some of the most interesting things throughout the Vatican. I would not recommend doing the Vatican without a good tour guide for two reasons. One, it is overwhelming with how many things there are to see so a guide provides you a tailored experience. Second, your guides get priority access through lines and help keep your pace flowing because the Vatican is EXTREMELY crowded. We met another couple a few days later in Florenze who talked about how terrible their tour guide was in the Vatican and it soured their experience. So when you plan your trip to the Vatican, make sure you ask for Elaria for a good time.
We always double-check the availability with our local partners for each booking. Even though this is usually a swift process, it can take up to 24 hours. Once this process is completed you will receive your voucher or ticket by email. If our local partner is not able to confirm your booking we will offer you the best possible alternative. If the new date and/or time doesn’t fit your itinerary, we will reimburse the full amount paid.
How great that you want to share your experience! Your feedback helps other travelers to make a better choice.
