The complex built in 960 AD is also a silent witness to the old Balinese kingdom years, particularly at the time of the Warmadewa Dynasty. Another nearby and prominent site on top of a hill is the presidential palace, Istana Tampaksiring, built during the years of the nation first president, Soekarno.

Very nice day, but long. Driver was polite. Long day driving from one place to another so cut out last two temples

Met with the nicest tour guide and we’re transport to all sites in clean and comfortable vehicle. Tours were safe, temples and their history were well explained. Tour guide and site guides took great pictures!

If you are interested in a tour to learn about the culture and history of the temples, and their significance in the Hindu religion, I would not recommend this tour. Our driver was great. He kept us safe on the road and delivered us to almost all of the stops (one was skipped, but we are not sure why). Unfortunately he was not a guide. He did not speak English and was unable to tell us about anything we were seeing. This is not a tour in the traditional sense, but a hired driver service. Which was a bit disappointing. We saw many beautiful temples but had no understanding of the cultural or relgious significance. In the end, everything was beautiful and our driver kind, but this was not the tour we expected.
