Overnight Mount Ijen Blue Fire Trek Tour From Bali (Private-All Inclusive)

Gusti was such a kind and endlessly accommodating driver. He made the journey very pleasant from Bali, and we stopped at the most delicious buffet restaurant on the beach for dinner before our ferry to Java. The hike up Ijen with the local guide was breathtaking (pack warm sleeves!) We saw the spectacular blue flames, and then hiked back out of the crater in time to see the sunrise over the mountain. Would highly recommended, definitely a highlight of my 20 day Indonesia trip.

We booked a tour to Mount Ijen through Rio Bali Tours and had an amazing experience, especially thanks to our driver Gusti and our local guide Sherly. Gusti drove us very safely from place to place. Even on the winding mountain roads, we always felt safe and comfortable. He was super funny, kind, and made the long drives really enjoyable. You can tell he truly loves his job. Just an awesome person all around. At Mount Ijen, we were guided by Sherly, a local who used to work in the sulfur mines. He knows the mountain like the back of his hand and explained everything about the region, the mining, and the nature in a really interesting way. He took us safely to the famous Blue Fire and was always looking out for us. He answered all our questions and made sure we were okay every step of the way. You can feel his passion for guiding. He really enjoys what he does and puts his heart into it. A special bonus – Sherly took amazing photos of us during the tour. They turned out beautifully and he even created a great video for us at the end, which is such a wonderful memory. All our friends and family were super impressed! Bottom line: If you’re planning a trip to Mount Ijen, we highly recommend Rio Bali Tours. And if you’re lucky enough to get Gusti as your driver and Sherly as your guide, you’re in for a perfect experience!

This trip was quite the adventure! Our driver, Gusti, was super helpful and flexible in stopping wherever and whenever we needed along the way, all while ensuring we still made the ferry at the right time. The trek itself was as advertised: a great hike, a guide willing to go as fast or as slow up the mountain as we wanted, steep, challenging, and an overall cool experience. (Our day was pouring rain, which added to the fun). The homestay was welcoming and swift, given the early wake-up, but nice, and everyone was super friendly! The only drawback was that it was quite crowded, with many folks not necessarily prepared for the physical demands of the hike itself, which detracted from our experience. However, that may just be the nature of the beast for attractions like this.
