Let's take an inside look at local food at Mangwon market. The market is famous for street food such as sweet chicken, vegetable croquette, etc. The market first started in 1975 as 'Seongsan' market. It completed its renovation in 2008 and changed the name to Mangwon World cup Market to commemorate 2002 World cup stadium nearby. Now it is 215 meters long with lots of vendors and street food. We first go to a meat restaurant and visit the market for dessert afterwards. The food in the restaurant is inclusive. * Please be noted that food in the market is not inclusive. You buy your own food and enjoy it. This market is very popular among locals. Compared to Gwangjang market, it is less touristy and crowded.

The market is not very touristy, and I enjoyed that a lot. With a ton of Korean food options, it’s worth a visit. Lee showed us around and gave a lot of information on different foods as well as the many different grains and vegetables which are sold there. The food at the restaurant was delicious! My personal favorite was the desert…torched marshmallow ice cream! You don’t want to miss out on that one. Overall a great local market experience.
