Jose Maria de Fonseca, Azeitao, Portugal A family business with almost two centuries of history that, without ever resting on the glories conquered, has been able to modernize. José Maria da Fonseca has been operating wine since 1834, the fruit of the shared passion of a family that has preserved and projected the memory and prestige of its founder. Conscious of the responsibility of being the oldest producer of table wine and Moscatel de Setúbal in Portugal, José Maria da Fonseca has a philosophy of permanent development, which makes it invest more and more in research and of production, combining the most modern techniques with traditional knowledge. An example of this is the Adega José de Sousa Rosado Fernandes, in Reguengos de Monsaraz, Alentejo, where the Roman tradition of fermenting in clay pots keeps abreast of the latest technology. 60 minutes

We had a wonderful trip through 2 wineries and enjoyed a lot of great wine and history about the wineries and their past and current productions. I would highly recommend taking a day to enjoy the wineries and their wines. Our tour guide and driver Fernando was exceptional too!!!

The driver was friendly. The first winery was very disappointing. No tour and small samples of cheap wine. The second winery was great with a tour of the facility and great wine tasting

What a fantastic day exploring the wines of Setúbal! Our private driver, Ana, made the experience effortless and fun from start to finish. She was super friendly and knew so much about the area, which made the journey even better.
We stopped at two wineries, each offering something special. At **Jose Maria Francesca**, Matilde wowed us with her knowledge of this family-run winery and the history of winemaking in the region—it was such an interesting stop!
Next, we headed to **Bacalhôa Vinhos de Portugal**, where history, art, and winemaking come together beautifully. The estate is absolutely stunning, and the wines were delicious. Getting a peek into their production process and tasting their selections made the visit extra special.
Ana and her boss took great care of everything, from making the trip smooth to sharing local insights. If you're looking for a wine tour with gorgeous scenery, great wines, and a guide who truly knows her stuff, this is the one to book!
