Discover the Royal Alcazar of Seville, declared a World Heritage Site in 1987. You will be amazed by its magnificience and magniture. You will also recognize some spots, because of the shooting of the famous series “Game of Thrones”. The origin of the Real Alcazar of Seville dates from the time of the High Middle Ages, although some areas of Islamic art that impress with its delicacy are preserved. In any case, Mudejar art and Gothic style predominate, but Renaissance and Baroque elements were added later. Over the centuries, it has been the residence of the members of the Spanish Royal Family in Seville. Even today, it remains for the exclusive use of royalty, except for tourist visits. This complex includes many wonderful features. The quaintest is the Patio de las Doncellas, with its ponds that reflect the intricate mudéjar plasterwork for which this palace is known for. A very hot day was made enjoyable by the tour guide. His commentary was amazing both informative and amusingly showing us the Royal Palace. The detailing in the architecture was superb and the gardens amazing

I would still recommend this tour but there was a lot of wasted time, firstly for other guests and then the tour guide himself who was running late from a previous tour. We actually entered the queue for admission 35 mins after the start of the tour. We still got the full tour but finished late. The guide was knowledgeable enough but the architecture, as stunning as it is, is similar from one room to another and we felt that we missed out on understanding how the buildings were used or lived in. It was fine but not that engaging or interesting and a more human or relatable explanation would have been welcome. Maybe nothing is known so this might be a bit harsh and to hold the attention of 29 people is not easy but we have done many tours and this was not one of the best. I know reviews are important but I really didn’t need to get a 5 min talk at the end about scanning a QR code and entering over 100 words finishing with the guides name so his boss is impressed. The architecture is stunning but with overlapping information from other tours I didn’t come away having learnt anything new.
