This was a nice break from cathedrals and history and museums on our Spain trip. The wetlands are extensive, and we saw lots of birds (flamingos, spoonbills, even an eagle). Our guide Jose was very informative and shared lots of pictures with us. Unfortunately we did not see an Iberian lynx. If you can, sit up front or in the middle seats, as it was a little hard to hear in the back of the van. Note: the water level, and therefore the wildlife, in the wetlands varies considerably as the seasons change. We were there while things were wet and lush and green, it dries out late i the year - plan accordingly.

Breathtaking morning with abundance of bird life. Our tour guide, Jose was so experienced and knowledgeable about all we were seeing. He also seemed to know exactly when and where to look, often unexpectedly. After lunch in the odd wild west style town by the lake, the afternoon is a little quieter with walks through forests and sand dunes. Highly recommended!!
