Ben Thanh Market, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam Ben Thanh Market in Ho Chi Minh City's District 1 is a great place to buy local handicrafts, branded goods, Vietnamese art and other souvenirs. Here, you’ll find eating stalls inside the market where you can get a taste of hawker-style Vietnamese cuisine or simply cool off with a cold drink when the bargaining becomes too much. The market is big, difficult to navigate at times and certainly best avoided during the hottest part of the day but all the same its well worth a look. When night falls, restaurants around the perimeter of the market open their doors creating a vibrant street side scene filling the air with the scents of wok-fried noodles, barbecued fish and meats. One of Saigon’s oldest landmarks, Ben Thanh offers a great atmosphere that is absolutely authentically Vietnamese. 30 minutes

Great day with Kelvin Phat. He was very knowledgeable and took good care of us showing us what we wanted to see. His driver Mr H was a good driver. They picked us up at the port entrance and retuned us to the same spot. We did a Ho Chi Minh City tour. Lunch was at a little place off the beaten path which is exactly what we like. It was delicious. Thank you so much Kelvin for the wonderful tour. Don’t do a cruise ship tour, do this one!!

We had only one day in Vietnam and our ship docked in Phu My. Because of this the tour company gave us the option of doing a tour of the city or visiting the tunnels as there wouldn't be sufficient time to do both. We opted for the tunnels as it was our number one choice. The drive from the port did take us through the city so we were able to get a flavour of what it was like. The tunnels themselves were extremely interesting, it was amazing how people survived living in them for any length of time. There was a nice meal afterwards. The drive back to the port was longer than expected due to the expressway being closed but we made it back to the ship with time to spare. Special thanks to our guide, Sunny, for the information and our driver
