We visited with two young children for a guided tour by Graham. Graham changed some of the language used to describe serious events, due to younger children present, whilst adding humour. All of the tour was very informative & interesting to hear the perspective and experiences of a retired prison officer. We would definitely recommend visiting & we will be back again.

Highly recommend doing a guided tour of this fascinating prison. there is a lot of infoamtion availabel aroudn the site but our tour guide Graham was really interesting and gave the group plenty of insights into what it was like to work in the prison as a prison officer. Before booking we were amazed to find that this is a dog-friendly attraction, which is great for us having 2 little pooches. The cafe is also dog friendly and the food was great too - especially the Biscoff brownie and carrot cake :-) I've never been anywhere where every single member of staff we came across was so friendly and helpful so thank you to all who work there - lots of places could learn from the team at Shrewsbury Prison.

The prison is only available to wheelchair users on the ground floor which was such a shame. We were allowed to do the tour by ourselves. It was reading how prison cells have changed over the years. In parts there could of been ramps laid out because there was the odd step here and there.
