Surrounded by a landscape, sometimes lunar, we will try to get to know and explore Etna, a World Heritage Site, famous for its beauty and uniqueness. We will cross: Deserts of Black Sand; Ancient and recent lava flows; Old craters and lava tubes. Difficulty: Easy Maximum altitude: about 2100 m; Duration of the trek: about 1.5 / 2 hours; Height difference: about 100 m. In the event of adverse weather conditions or real security risks, the route can be changed!! Other things to keep in mind: The duration of the experience is indicative. Unpredictable situations could cause the experience to end later than expected. It is always better not to make the day of the experience coincide with the date of your flight, if the scheduled time is too close to your departure/arrival. It is important to wear hiking shoes or that you are not afraid to get dirty.

  • Craters Silvestri of Mount Etna, Nicolosi, Italy
    They are two pyroclastic cones formed north of Nicolosi, at an altitude of about 1,900 m, on the slopes of the Etna volcano. Their formation dates back to the eruption of 1892: this began on 9 July with the formation of a radial fracture, and therefore of a boutonniere of five craters, between 2025 and 1800 m, on the southern slope of the flanks of the volcano. It lasted 173 days and covered about 7 kilometres, until it touched the Monti Rossi on the eastern side, stopping just above Nicolosi, at an altitude of 970 m a.s.l.

This was an enjoyable session! The guides were friendly and informative and we learned a good deal about volcanology and the history of Etna with their instruction. I thought we might go higher than anticipated, but it’s not a harsh criticism ☺️

La nostra avventura con Chrystopher e Raffaella è stata davvero entusiasmante. Una volta raggiunto il punto d'incontro, ci hanno fornito tutta l'attrezzatura necessaria per affrontare al meglio l'esperienza. Abbiamo esplorato diversi crateri attraverso sentieri e racconti interessanti sulla storia dell'Etna e sulla flora e sulla fauna del luogo. L'escursione si è conclusa con l'ingresso e l'esplorazione di una grotta, davvero unica. Chrystopher e Raffaella gentilissimi, simpatici e molto preparati.

È stata una bellissima esperienza , ci siamo divertiti tantissimo. Il paesaggio meraviglioso e il tutto è stato reso speciale da quanto raccontato dalle guide (molto professionali, preparate e davvero simpatiche).
