    Battambang is the second biggest city of Cambodia, however, it remains calm and the atmosphere truly brings you back to the French colonial era. It’s also known as the “rice bowl” of the country, the rice production of this province alone is enough to make Cambodia self-sufficient in terms of food. Arrive Battambang around 10:00 am, take the city tour orientation along Steung Sangké River, and the colonial buildings including the governor’s house. Continue to the striking hilltop temples of Phnom Sampeau, this massive limestone outcrop is dissected by a number of caves some more accessible than others, with some containing unexpected reminders of Cambodia’s history. Enjoy the bamboo train ride at Phnom Banan to experience how Cambodian farmers creating bamboo train for daily transport. Drive back through the old town of Battambang.

We had an absolute fantastic day with our guide Mock (Moung Thoui) and our driver Vishna. They were always looking for the best views, the best places, and they were concerned about our well-being throug the whole day. We had two highlights: the bamboo train ride and the perfectly timed stop on our way back: the sunset above the endless rice fields. They even brought some beer so we could cheer upon the wonderful and fun day we had! Thank you very very much, we would always book again with Mock! Désirée & Sinan

Denne heldagstur til Battambang er en dag, jeg aldrig glemmer. Min guide Mork var så behagelig, professionel og vidende. Ren fornøjelse! Køreturen tager ca. 3 timer fra Siem Reap. Behagelig tur med en dygtig chauffør, så tiden flyver afsted med snak (Mork taler super godt engelsk) og udsigt til landets frodige rismarker og livet i byerne på vejen. Pauser indlagt til toiletbesøg og kaffe. Dagens oplevelser i form af smukt tempel, killing fields cave, Battambang by og marked samt Bamboo Train giver en fin variation i oplevelserne og er fint afstemt i forhold til tid. Mork er så behagelig med en dejlig humor, og jeg giver ham og Bayon Guide min varmeste anbefaling.

We had a great day coming from Siem Reap to Battambang. Even if it is a very long drive we had great fun with our guide Mork on the very comfortable bus who explained a lot and showed us villages, caves, temples and the city of Battambang. Highlight was our ride with the Bamboo Train which was great fun. Everything was perfectly organized and we will book with Bayon Guides again! Thank you!
