Very good trip! The tour guide in Siem Reap was very good (Sarat) and the tour guide we had in Phnom Phen (Ou Bunthorn) was outstanding! We enjoyed Angor Wat and all the surrounding areas but really had a big learning experience with the Phnom Phen tour and seeing the Killing Fields and the Genocide Museum etc. Helped us to understand a very complex time in world history. My only complaints are that for the price we paid ($650 each) the hotel experience could have been improved. The hotel in Siem Reap was frequented by large tour groups and the food often ran out at breakfast (included). It was frustrating to feel as though we had to rush to get down to breakfast to beat the crowd. The hotel in Phnom Phen gave us a single bed when we had specifically asked for two beds and refused to move us until we contacted the tour operator. They were stubborn and not accomodating. The room was also tiny and not enough room for our luggage. We had to leave early for the airport and they refused to let us come eat a bit of breakfast early - packing us some inedible sandwiches instead. These hotels cost in the vicinity of US $50/night so I wonder if we could have done better.
