Preah Vihear Temple, Cambodia Preah Vihear temple situated on the edge of a plateau that dominates the plain of Cambodia, the Temple of Preah Vihear is dedicated to Shiva. The Temple is composed of a series of sanctuaries linked by a system of pavements and staircases over an 800 metre long axis and dates back to the first half of the 11th century AD. Nevertheless, its complex history can be traced to the 9th century, when the hermitage was founded. This site is particularly well preserved, mainly due to its remote location. The site is exceptional for the quality of its architecture, which is adapted to the natural environment and the religious function of the temple, as well as for the exceptional quality of its carved stone ornamentation. 360 minutes
Koh Ker Temple, Cambodia Koh Ker was the capital of the Khmer Empire for a brief period, between 928-941 C.E. under its founder King Jayavarman IV. As yet, the only authentic, contemporary information about the political ideology of Angkor comes from the Koh Ker inscription which establishes a clear shift of Khmer political ideology from ‘rāja’ or king, to ‘rājya’ or the kingdom and its people. In support of this new ideology, no war was waged by Jayavarman IV; his reign was the most peaceful phase of the Khmer Empire, which enabled a cultural resurgence. This time of peace allowed Jayavarman IV to carry out projects of regional, social, economic and architectural development, town planning and rural infrastructure, of which the ensemble of monuments at Koh Ker bear testimony. 60 minutes
PGXV+XX7, Phumi Môréal, Cambodia This small temple is in a fair state of preservation, with three surviving sanctuary towers and two libraries. While its enclosure walls survive, the temple's east gopura no longer exists apart from its foundation stones. We do not know when precisely when the temple was constructed as it was never fully completed--note the unfinished lintels above all five of the doorways. 30 minutes
Beng Mealea, Cambodia Beng Mealea was still one of the larger temples built during the Angkor period. The outer enclosure measures 152 by 181 metres and the moat is 875m by 1025m. The temple is oriented to the east, but there are entrances on all four sides. 60 minutes

Had a fabulous day out of Siem Reap with Kimy our tour guide who was very informative and also very funny. Preah Vihear and Pol Pot house as well as the big story are a must see. We stopped to watch a lady making palm sugar in a village on the way back to the city which was also a great experience. Would definitely recommend this trip.
