Thoroughly enjoyed my walking tour of the beautiful Tiong Bahru. The wonderful guide Lim brought to life the history of this gorgeous neighbourhood, with his depth of knowledge and personal anecdotes. It was a wonderful combination of art, culture and architecture. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone wanting to learn more about the history of Singapore. Loved it.

I saw Singaporean's effort to save the old ones. It was really really impressive. They keep old panels, green glass, and grills as they were. All those buildings were built in different years, but they didn't just build totally new ones. They considered harmony and progress together.
Also, as we went through peaceful lanes between houses, I heard about history of Tiong Bahru. It feels like I'm just in the middle of WW2 raising tapioka for my kids. It was a heart breaking story that a woman gave birth at the bombshell oh god amid severe air raid not knowing her husband was alive or not.
This tour was really amazing. You can check some old but still popular restaurants at some corners of Tiong Bahru. Along the way, I met the murals filled with details of nostalgic memories.
Thank you so much, Elain!
