Miguel picked us up at our hotel in Lisbon. It was Lisbon’s national Freedom day holiday but Miguel managed to avoid the closed roads and get us to our destination for the day without issues. Miguel asked us what we would prefer to do: he gave us a few options of different palaces and places to see. We first visited Cascais. He let us wonder around and we were to meet up after an hour. Unbeknownst to Miguel the police would close the roads while we were there to allow for holiday festivities. All worked out well as Miguel contacted us and came to get us by foot and bring us to where he had to park. On our way to our next destination, Miguel toured us around and then stopped at Cabo do Roco - the farthest western point on the continent of Europe. Miguel took us to a restaurant for an excellent fresh seafood lunch overlooking the beach and surfers. Our next stop was to walk around Sintra. Then we drove up to Peña Palace. All along as we drove, Miguel would tell us the history of the Palace. At the Palace, Miguel walked us throughout the entire property explaining in detail what we were viewing. The amount of knowledge and love of country Miguel displayed as he spoke was extraordinary. And even though it was a National Holiday, Miguel handled the crowds and the roads without demonstrating frustration. Miguel spent over 9 hours with us. We were very impressed with Miguel.
