Combine sightseeing and river rafting on this relaxing Skagway shore excursion. Enjoy a beautiful 10-mile (16-km) drive along the coast to the Dyea Valley, an old Gold Rush settlement rich with history. On the drive, you may spot seals, eagles and other wildlife (however wildlife sightings are not guaranteed). See the start of the famous Chilkoot Trail, where thousands journeyed in pursuit of gold in 1898. Gear up with lifejackets, rubber boots, and rain ponchos (if necessary) for the peaceful (approx. 40 minute) float through lush coastal forest with mountain views. Enjoy nature away from the crowds in a beautiful Alaskan setting.

Look for a representative holding a SKAGWAY FLOAT TOURS sign. Please be 10 minutes early. For Broadway and Ore dock, meet off the pier where the dock meets land just outside the security gate next to a large parking area. For the Railroad dock, there are two docking positions. For ships tendering to the small boat harbor, walk up the ramp after disembarking the tender and look to your left for Zone B meeting area. If you are taking a shuttle bus off the pier from your ship, once you get off the shuttle bus look to your right for Zone B. Zone B is near Skagway Fish Co.

  • If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
  • Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
  • Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.

This was such a great excursion. We saw numerous eagles and were surprised by 2 bear sightings. We saw a black bear and her cub as well as a brown bear. The guides were very knowledgeable.

Chris, Joe and the crew took great care of us and helped us get some lovely nature photos while floating safely with a small contingent of just 6 guests. My 84 yr old companion was given wonderful help making his first rafting adventure a breeze.

Very enjoyable and well run tour. Picked up at the boat by Zoe, our driver, and Bob our tour guide then driven to a trailhead where Bob led a hike along the old gold trail. It was steep going but beautiful and Bob maintained a comfortable pace and a narration of the history and botany of the place. Sadly, part of the trail had just washed out so the hike was cut short. We them met up on the river for a float trip. The river was high but Bob was on top of things and we felt safe and comfortable at all times. At the conclusion Zoe and Bob took our pictures, gave us snacks and returned us to Skagway. A nice tour.
