We have wanted to visit this museum for years now and eventually got the chance last week. What an amazing museum and it is probably one of the best ones we have been too for a while.
The time tunnel was amazing, sooooo many things to look at lots of reminiscing on the walk through.
It starts at Victorian times right through to present day, and the collection of items was just out of this world, Robert Opie honestly has some of the best collection you can ever hope to see.
Especially liked the 40s collection and the 50s, our 15 year old daughter loved the 60s display and the radios and was really impressed with everything to look at
The only thing which probably did let the visit down was the staff on the front desk, upon arrival they were just stood talking and wasn't very friendly or helpful. Once we paid we just got pointed to the tunnel and got told to start there, and then they carried on talking to each other. The girl did point to where toilets were and there was "another exhibition that way", but there was no knowledge given to what exhibition it was or anything like that, just simple pointing and not looking like they wanted to be there!
The cafe was good but again the customer service was abit iffy and the girl looked a bit stressed out as she was the only one working there that day.
Once we finished the museum we visited the shop at the entrance and again the staff were just huddled around the desk talking and didnt really seem interested in people being there. They weren't talking in English either which made things even more abit not very friendly, I'm sure it was Spanish. We spent quite a bit in the museum shop but there wasnt really any questions like did we enjoy our visit or anything, infact looked more of an inconvenience that we were even buying anything and interrupting the conversation.
I do think that customer service needs to be worked on big time as I can imagine that some people will also probably feel the same as we did, a museum needs atmosphere and unfortunately this one although having an amazing collection , it just lacked that atmosphere.

Well curated throughout history. However it should not be called “museum of brands” as is rather a hodgepodge collection” down memory lane of memorabilia. Not particularly of brands per se but just seems like stuff. As a graphic designer, I thought the emphasis would be more on branding, or logos, or even design… but it seemed like a mausoleum of well curated categories and just stuff.
Not brands. just stuff. Maybe they should have a special section about design and pick a few very recognizable British brands that still exist today, and do a study about their evolution through the ages. It just fell flat for me. Sorry. Not worth your time or visit. Plus it’s far
