Join Coastal Kayak Charters for a small group guided kayak tour of the Shell Key Preserve. We are St Pete's top rated kayak tour company and focus exclusively on small groups and private tours. Our trips offer more personalized service and better wildlife viewing opportunities while out on the water. We will explore hidden mangrove tunnels (tides permitting), shallow seagrass meadows, and stop on Shell Island for time to swim, look for shells, or just relax and enjoy the beach. Our tours are designed for beginners and experienced kayakers alike. We use stable user friendly kayaks that provide a great paddling experience. We primarily use double kayaks unless you have an odd number in your group. If you prefer single kayaks they are available through our website. Come explore with local professionals who love what they do and see the difference for yourself.

    The Shell Key Preserve is an 1800 acre nature preserve at the mouth of Tampa Bay. It protects sensitive marine habitats and includes the county's largest undeveloped barrier island. Its' beaches provide important nesting grounds for sea turtles and it is designated as one of Florida's most important nesting and wintering areas for shorebirds.

This was our second trip with Coastal Kayak Tours and it was just as amazing as the first trip! Our Guide Taylor was awesome, she was knowledgeable and informative about the marine life and the Shell Key Preserve. She took us through the mangrove tunnels and to Shell Key beach to explore the waters and marine life on our own for a short time. We will be back next year! Thank you Taylor!

This was our 3rd trip with Coastal Kayak, and we have never been disappointed! This year's trip was led by Brian and we enjoyed his knowledge and his sense of humor. The trip was nicely paced and our favorite part was paddling through the mangroves.

Taylor was an amazing guide for an incredible day on the gulf coast! Within the first 2 minutes a dolphin popped up right next to my kayak, just a few minutes later, we kayaked right over a group of five manatees. A massive sting ray was spotted as well! The mangrove tunnels were beautiful, the pace was smooth and Taylor was a great guide. She also gave some great advice for other local activities. We will go again the next time we are in the area.
