The limonaia is an 8000sqm citrus grove in the center of Sorrento, a historic citrus grove with lemon and orange trees and other types of fruit trees, as well as centuries-old olive trees A guided tour in a traditional lemon garden, where you can discover the oval lemon of Sorrento or Massa Lubrense, grown only in the Sorrento peninsula. The lemons from our garden have obtained the IGP mark.

We did the tour of the lemon grove along with the dinner and it was very underwhelming. The whole tour took about 20-25 minutes. I would say 85% of the tour was just talking about what grafting is in agricultural terms, so if you already know what that is then I would just skip the tour. Even not knowing that much about lemons or lemon groves before this, I wouldn't say I really learned much. It would have been more interesting to hear the process from growing the lemons to serving them in their meals and different ways they use them, but the tour just seemed to focus on one specific, basic concept of growing lemons. You can have a very similar experience and save yourselves €25 each by just one google search of how lemons are grown.

So we found this place by accident walking back to our hotel. We did not have time for a full guided tour but were able to wander around the lemon grove and order a quick limoncello. Really this place is lovely and deserves much more publicity. There is a delightful outdoor area with both sofa and table seating where lunch or drinks are available, all in the wonderful and fascinating surroundings of a historic lemon and orange grove. There is also a small garden greenhouse shop selling outdoor pottery etc and cooking classes can also be booked. There are many lemon groves in and around Sorrento and this is a great opportunity to visit one, just a short walk from the town centre. And a lovely friendly welcome too. Go for lunch as well !
