Without question this is the way to see the best of Rio. My wife and I had a full day with Rodrigo and his driver. Both were fantastic company and made us feel at ease from the outset. Before we got to Rio, Rodrigo corresponded with me to ensure that we got to all the places (off the beaten tourist track) we wanted to photograph and match these with our photographic styles. This made the day even more pleasurable rather than being faced with unproductive and uninspiring staged set-ups.
Rodrigo is an accomplished photographer and knows the best location to match your style but will not take away the creativity by setting up your shots; he lets you get on with it and enjoy the experience but will provide expert advice if asked. I mainly shoot landscapes and architecture, but in addition we managed to fit in traditional samba, street markets, the Selaron steps, churches, restaurant life and even a spectacular trip into the Tiradentes Palace.
The finale of the tour was sunset over Rio from Niteroi after exploring the area around Niemeyer’s art museum. Put this on your bucket list; it is the place where the locals go to view this spectacle and Rodrigo helped us to get the best spot with some fabulous results.
We got picked up and dropped at our hotel in a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle with water provided.
It is worth mentioning that we felt completely safe with Rodrigo. Rio has a reputation, but he knows all the areas and asked us to put away our equipment so that we did not attract unwanted attention.
Our holiday had many, many highlights; the experience with Rodrigo and Rio Photo Tours is at the top. If you are looking for a special photographic tour experience don’t look elsewhere…you will be disappointed if you do. I cannot recommend highly enough.
