We flew to Zhangjiajie instead of taking the bullet train. Once we hit the ground we never stopped, we went to the National Park and took a walk to see the monkeys.
We checked into the hotel early evening and we were own on our for supper.
The second day we took the bus to the top!! We took the glass elevator down late in the afternoon. Our guide took us to a very remote section of the NP for a great pic!! Nobody was there!! AWESOME views!!!
On the third day we went to Tianmen Mountain which is on the other side of Zhangjiajie. We took the cable car to the top and we took the escalator down the mountain. We walked on the glass walkway!! We did not take the 999 steps down, but we got a nice pic at the bottom of the steps!
We did have to wait in a few lines. The lines for the cable car were really long. It took us an hour from start to finish to get on a cable car. Maybe a skip the line option could be added?
This area is busy but not overrun yet, but that time is coming! My advice is to go before the town booms!!
There were not many westerners visiting this area yet. If you need a western toilet, look for the handicap facilities, but be careful some of them were locked!
Overall the guide was nice and helpful. If they could offer some dinner recommendations that would be great!!!
